Rajkotupdates.News: RRR filed Pil in Telangana high court before the release. The highly expected Indian film, RRR, has made headlines in its declaration. The movie, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, features a glamorous cast, with Ram Charan and Jr. NTR. Though, the film has faced several footraces in its production and release.

‘RRR ‘is a Telugu period action drama film directed by SS Rajamouli. It stars actors NT Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, and Shriya Saran in supporting roles. The film marks Bollywood stars Bhatt and  Devgn’s debut in Tollywood.

Lately, the makers of RRR filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Telangana High Court. The PIL was filed to search for safety from piracy and confirm a smooth film release. The makers of RRR appealed that the film’s piracy would cause an essential financial loss to them and then to the film industry as a whole.

The Telangana High Court issued notices to several internet service providers, directing them to block websites that promote or facilitate piracy of RRR. The court also directed the police to take appropriate action against those who plunder the film.

The makers of RRR have been taking several measures to prevent film piracy. They have been using advanced technology to protect the movie from being leaked before its release. They have also been closely monitoring social media platforms and websites to prevent the sharing of any pirated content.

RRR Background

RRR Background

The story of RRR is fictional and is set in the pre-independence era. The film focuses on the lives of 2 freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr.NTR, respectively.

The director, SS Rajamouli, took over 3 years to complete the film and has a budget of over 400 crores. This high amount makes RRR one of the most expensive films in India.

Controversies

The team recently seemed on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show.’ Jr NTR makes fun of Bhatt’s slim figure when Bhatt says, “Jr NTR is a good cook, but he hasn’t cooked anything for her or the team.”

Since SS Rajamouli announced the film, it has been mired in controversies. The first controversy was over the film’s title. Rajamouli first named the film Roudram Ranam Rudhiram but changed it to RRR after a legal battle with another South filmmaker.

Secondly, some filmmakers make allegations of plagiarism against SS Rajamouli. For example, Leela Gour, a writer, claimed that the story of RRR was stolen from her novel, The Men Who Killed Gandhi. Rajamouli denied these allegations and claimed that the level of RRR is original. Lastly, rajkotupdates.News: RRR filed a PIL in Telangana High Court before release, which caused another controversy.

Who Filed the PIL And Why?

Initially, the PIL was filed by Telangana Film Journalists Association (TFJA) on April 5th,2022. This association raised issues over the depiction of characters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama in the film.

A Public Interest Petition (PIL) was filed by Alluri Soumya, a student hailing from West Godavari district in the Telangana High Court, seeking not to issue a Censor Certificate and restrain the producer of ‘Roudram Ranam and Rudiram’ (RRR) from releasing the movie.

The group alleges that RRR disrespectfully portrays the story of 2 freedom fighters and does not reflect their true character. Moreover, TFJA raised concerns over using some historical characters in the fictional story.

The group claimed that the filmmakers had not taken compulsory permissions and clearances to use the characters of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju in the fictional story. In addition, TFJA raised issues over the use of CGI technology to recreate the faces of freedom fighters. They alleged that this use of CGI is unethical and disrespectful.

How Did RRR Makers Respond to PIL Filed by TFJA?

The RRR makers did not respond straight to the PIL filed in the Telangana High Court. But the director, SS Rajamouli, released a report saying the film is imagined and does not intend to disrespect anyone. He also said the film’s producers had taken all the required permissions and authorizations to use the characters of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju in the film.

Similarly, the high court arranges a two-judge bench containing Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavalo and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma. Both the judges studied the PIL and dismissed it. They said nothing could damage the reputation of great historical characters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju.

They also declared, “Poison may kill Socrates but not his ideas or literature.” Moreover, the judge instructs the producers of RRR to take all essential precautions to avoid any debate during the release. Lastly, the judges requested the censor board to certify no copyright violation occurred during and after the film’s release. They added they asked that the censor board ensure no copyright infringement occurs.

Conclusion

The piracy of films is a primary concern for the film industry. The makers of RRR took a significant step by filing a PIL in the Telangana High Court to seek protection from piracy. The court’s decision to block websites that promote or facilitate RRR piracy and take appropriate action against those who engage in piracy is a significant victory for the film industry.

The film industry should continue to take measures to prevent piracy of films. Using advanced technology and working closely with law enforcement agencies are effective measures to prevent piracy. The public should also be educated about the negative impact of piracy on the film industry and encouraged to watch films in theaters.
